Video Installation, 101:20 min, 16:9

MNEMOSYNE expands the investigation of patriarchal power structures begun in the research project DON'T YOU FEAR THE VOID (2023) to include an institutional perspective. While the original film brought together nearly 30 voices, the installation shifts the discourse to a concentrated conversation with five experts from the fields of art and cultural practice: Julika Bosch (Philara Collection), Mithu Sanyal (author and performance artist), Kathrin Tiedemann (director of Forum Freies Theater), Katharina Wettwer (curator at Stadtsparkasse Düsseldorf) and Sevtap Selvi (sex educator and discrimination expert). The discussion reflects on the inequalities that continue to exist despite ongoing debates, how structural and everyday barriers slow down marginalised artists, and what steps are necessary to achieve an emancipated, equal image of female artists. Central to this are questions of justice, institutional responsibility and the role of curatorial decisions: How do mechanisms of exclusion arise? Why does change fail? What support structures are lacking? And how can education, visibility and equal practices contribute to genuine inclusion in the long term? MNEMOSYNE makes it clear that this discourse is ongoing and invites the audience to become part of its continuation.
